The Beginning Of Knowledge

Proverbs 1:7: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The beginning of what knowledge?

John 17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

It is the beginning of knowing God, and the end of just knowing about Him. Just knowing about Him will become knowing more about Him AND knowing HIM better and better. Both will grow. It is the beginning of knowing Him personally rather than as some distant impersonal and unknowable God. It is the beginning of experiencing Him. Experiencing and enjoying His love. Experiencing His power to change you and your life. Experiencing His plan for you and knowing that it is His plan. Experiencing His will and knowing that it is better than your own. (Your flesh will try to convince you otherwise.)

Romans 8:16: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

It is the beginning of knowing that YOU are a child of God. (Your flesh will try to convince you otherwise.)

1 John 5:13: These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

It is the beginning of knowing that you have eternal life. (Your flesh will try to convince you otherwise.)

John 13:35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

It is the beginning of loving other believers. And because we love other believers the world will know we are His disciples and we will know it ourselves. Loving them will mean that we are drawn to them and want to be a blessing to them. If you are not regularly attending a Biblical church full of them, there won*t be much evidence that you love them. The world may not know that you are Jesus* disciple and you will not know it as well yourself. (Your flesh will try to convince the world and you otherwise.)

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

It is the beginning of becoming less and less like the world and the beginning of knowing the acceptable and perfect will of God. But no matter how much you grow in these wonderful things it is still only the beginning of them. They should increase and abound and multiply.

1 Thessalonians 3:12: And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

2 Peter 1:2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Jude 1:2: Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

Isaiah 9:7: Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
